Summer in the Son - How Do I Love Thee? Loving With the Heart of Christ

Series: Summer in the Son

Sunday, August 13, 2017 | By Guest Preacher

Love originates from God. And I truly believe that when we begin to understand this in the depths of our hearts, that’s when we really begin to be a member of the Body of Christ. We can verbally say, “I do” to the membership vows in a church, but when we truly understand God’s love for us we then can reciprocate God’s love with those around us. And that’s when we begin to pull together as the Body of Christ. That’s when we begin to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Blessings,
Reverend Patrick Schultz

Pastor Patrick was a member at Asbury UMC when he was called into ministry. His first appointment was in Milton at Gary’s parents church. He is now serving at Wellspring UMC in Madison

Associated Scripture Passage(s):

1 John 3:14, 1 John 4:7-12

1 John 3:14

14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. (ESV)

1 John 4:7-12

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. (ESV)
